STILLWATER OUTLAWS HOST MUDDY SCRIMMAGE
Despite the rain and the muddy playing field, the Stillwater Outlaws had a great scrimmage with the Del City Silverbacks last Saturday. It was the first scrimmage of 2010 for both teams and it was a great opportunity for them to get some live contact in a competitive scrimmage format. Each team had over 40 players and both teams were able to get plenty of reps during the two and a half hours of contact.
The Outlaws started off strong by moving the ball 170 yards on their first two processions and scoring to end both drives. The Outlaw defense came out exceptionally strong and held the Silverbacks to no yards on their first two offensive processions. At the end of the muddy day it was all positive for the Outlaws as the offense managed to get 385 yards of offense while the defense held the Silverbacks to negative yardage.
“I feel we have picked up right where we left off last season,” said Matthew Jones, the team’s general manager. “We won the championship in 2009 and it would be great to win it again. It’s great to have some new talent come out for the team this year and everyone knows they have to step up their level of play if they want to get back to another championship.”
The Outlaws are a third year team and play in the Oklahoma Metro Football League. They have compiled a 20-2 record and played for the league championship in both of the previous seasons. The team is made up of players and volunteer coaches from around the area that love the game of football. The team will start their regular season in March.
